As we become more aware of how we can live healthier and more natural, we find that vitamins can play an important role in living naturally. Being healthy is not merely avoiding disease, but it is also promoting your overall health as well as your well-being. One way you can do that is to simply eat more healthy foods, but this can only take you so far. It is practically impossible to get all of the vitamins and minerals that you need in a diet, even a completely balanced one.
Many people are always on the go and this makes it even more difficult to live the healthy and natural life for which we all strive. Junk food is readily available and it easy much easier to stop through a drive thru for your meals than it is to cook one at home or prepare your lunch each morning. Because of this, many people eat the same meals day in and day out, which puts them at a greater risk for vitamin deficiencies.
In order to avoid vitamin deficiency as much as possible, we must take steps to not only live more naturally, but also to ensure we are receiving all of the nutrients our bodies need. One way that we can promote our health in this manner is to take a daily multivitamin. However, we may also be lacking in various individual vitamins.
Vitamin A, for instance, plays a large role in our bone growth, vision, healthy cell function and reproduction. Vitamin A is essential in maintaining the linings of our respiratory, urinary and digestive systems. Vitamin A also helps our immunity in that it works as a barrier against viruses and bacteria.
Additionally, vitamin B6 and B12 are also very important. B6 assists our body’s proper red blood metabolism, protein metabolism, as well as nervous and immune systems. Vitamin B6 is also important in the conversion of tryptophan to niacin and assists in maintaining your blood sugar. B6 is also used in converting stored carbohydrates and other nutrients into glucose.
Vitamin B12 is essential in maintaining healthy nerve cells and red blood cells. Additionally, vitamin B12 is a requirement in making DNA and reproduction. Vitamin B12 can also assist you on a daily basis by giving you energy.
Vitamin D is another important vitamin in holistic living. D is needed to fend off osteoporosis by maintaining the normal blood levels of calcium and phosphorous. Vitamin D is essential in the absorption of calcium as well.
Several other vitamins and minerals have a beneficial effect on our health. Supplementing a nutritionally balanced diet and avoiding junk food and the daily grind of eating the same thing repeatedly plays a large part in your holistic health. With the proper vitamins and minerals as well as a diet that includes organic and fresh ingredients, you will see that your body takes a huge turn for a healthier you.
